From Fluff to Smut

From Fluff to Smut

The contributing authors to this webpage are self-identified “femmes” who have found a lack of femme-slash available on the World Wide Interwebs, and whose own work attempts to vanquish this void.  Very often erotic literature for-women, by-women continues to focus on the dynamics of the butch/femme dichotomy.  Femme/femme characterizations are avoided as they often play into more masculine fantasies of what lesbianism looks like.

The insertion of butch and androgynous bodies into femslash is important to highlight the diversity of the lesbian and bisexual community. However, the avoidance of femme/femme intimacy does a disservice to those women, variously labeled as “lipstick” or “femme privileged.”  Femme women, both lesbians and bisexual, are often wrongly interpreted as wearing the clothes of the enemy, or trying to Pass as straight.  We’re here to object to these ideas and validate the intimate and loving relationships between feminine-appearing women.

The stories and drabbles on this site range from romantic bits of “fluff” to NC-17 rated “smut.”

What’s the difference between these two terms, you ask?

“Fluff” defined by the Fanfiction Dictionary: “A light fiction which is usually just a day-in-the-life piece that is cute and humorous.”

“Smut” defined by Princeton University: “creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire”  Also known as PWP (Porn without Plot, or Plot, What Plot?)

All material is intended for an adult audience. In other words, if the characterization of two femme women in a romantic or otherwise intimate relationship offends you, then…what in the world are you doing on this webpage?
